Child & Adolescent Services

EBP-children-traumaIroquois Mental Health Center promotes the development of all children and adolescents, whether or not they have mental health problems. In addition, it is important to provide effective interventions and support to the 20% of children and adolescents believed to be suffering from overt mental health problems or disorders. The burden associated with mental disorders in children and adolescents are considerable, and it is made worse by stigma and discrimination. In many situations, mental disorders are poorly understood, and affected children are mistakenly viewed as “not trying hard enough” or as “troublemakers”.
