DON EMERSON MA, LPC, NCC | Outpatient Therapist
Don has been an educator in local school districts since 1990 and now, in addition, he is helping people in a different and more fulfilling capacity as an outpatient therapist. Don recently obtained a Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Governors State University. He is licensed as a Professional Counselor as well as a school counselor. He is also a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors.
Don’s training at a nationally accredited and well-regarded counseling program has been fulfilling and comprehensive and has provided him with ample hands on, real world experience as well as a strong foundation in theory. He has been educated in counseling theories, family systems, lifestyle and career development, group dynamics, measurements and evaluation, social and cultural foundations, ethical standards, life span developmental issues, human relations skills, interventions with children and adolescents, assessment and treatment planning, consultation and school staff development, parent education, and development of school counseling programs.
Don is a native to the area and resides with his wife and two teenage sons. In the past he was a long-time vice-president and volunteer coach with his local youth activity group and now volunteers with his church organizations. He enjoys sports and spending time with his family.
